On Tuesday, Disney India announced the release dates of some of its biggest titles to be released in theaters for 2021-2022. These movies are set to release on Diwali in six languages — English, Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, and Malayalam. The audience will finally be able to enjoy their favorite films in theatres as recently the government of Maharashtra announced the opening of theatres from October 22 which was closed down after the second wave of COVID 19.

2021:
- The Last Duel- October 22
The Last Duel is a historical drama film, directed and produced by Ridley Scott. It is based on the book of the same name by Eric Jager, with a screenplay by Nicole Holofcener, Ben Affleck, and Matt Damon. The film stars Damon as Jean de Carrouges, a knight who challenges his friend and squire Jacques Le Gris (Adam Driver) to a duel after Carrouges’s wife, Marguerite (Jodie Comer), accuses Le Gris of raping her; Affleck also stars.
- Ron’s Gone Wrong- October 29
Ron’s Gone Wrong is a computer-animated science-fiction comedy film directed by Jean-Philippe Vine and Sarah Smith, co-directed by Octavio E. Rodriguez, and written by Peter Baynham and Smith. The film stars an ensemble cast that includes Zach Galifianakis, Jack Dylan Grazer, Olivia Colman, Ed Helms, Justice Smith, Rob Delaney, Kylie Cantrall, Ricardo Hurtado, Marcus Scribner, and Thomas Barbusca.
- Marvel Studios’ Eternals- November 5
Eternals is based on the Marvel Comics race of the same name. The film stars an ensemble cast including Gemma Chan, Richard Madden, Kumail Nanjiani, Lia McHugh, Brian Tyree Henry, Lauren Ridloff, Barry Keoghan, Don Lee, Harish Patel, Kit Harington, Salma Hayek, and Angelina Jolie.
- Encanto- November 26
Encanto is a computer-animated musical fantasy comedy film produced by Walt Disney Animation Studios and distributed by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures. The film stars the voices of Stephanie Beatriz, John Leguizamo, María Cecilia Botero, Diane Guerrero, Jessica Darrow, Angie Cepeda, and Wilmer Valderrama.
- West Side Story- December 10
West Side Story is the second feature-length adaptation of the 1957 Broadway musical of the same name by Arthur Laurents, Leonard Bernstein, and Stephen Sondheim, which is based loosely on William Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet. It stars Rachel Zegler and Ansel Elgort, with Ariana DeBose, David Alvarez, Mike Faist, Josh Andrés Rivera, Corey Stoll, and Brian d’Arcy James. Rita Moreno, who appeared in the 1961 film, has a supporting role and is an executive producer.
- The King’s Man- December 24
The King’s Man is directed by Matthew Vaughn from a screenplay by Vaughn and Karl Gajdusek and a story by Vaughn. The third installment in the Kingsman film series, which is based on the comic book The Secret Service by Mark Millar and Dave Gibbons, the film serves as a prequel to 2014’s Kingsman: The Secret Service and 2017’s Kingsman: The Golden Circle.

- Death on the Nile- 11th February
Death on the Nile is directed by Kenneth Branagh and stars Branagh returning as Hercule Poirot, along with Tom Bateman (also returning from the first film), Annette Bening, Russell Brand, Ali Fazal, Dawn French, Gal Gadot, Armie Hammer, Rose Leslie, Emma Mackey, Sophie Okonedo, Jennifer Saunders, and Letitia Wright.
- Turning Red- 11th March
Turning Red is an American computer-animated coming-of-age fantasy comedy film produced by Walt Disney Pictures and Pixar Animation Studios to be distributed by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures. It is written and directed by Domee Shi (in her feature directorial debut), produced by Lindsey Collins, and starring Rosalie Chiang and Sandra Oh.
- Doctor Strange: Multiverse Of Madness- 25th March
Doctor Strange is an upcoming American superhero film based on the Marvel Comics character Doctor Strange. It stars Benedict Cumberbatch as Stephen Strange, alongside Elizabeth Olsen, Benedict Wong, Rachel McAdams, Chiwetel Ejiofor, and Xochitl Gomez.
- Thor: Love and Thunder- May 6
Thor: Love and Thunder is directed by Taika Waititi, and stars Chris Hemsworth as Thor, alongside Tessa Thompson, Natalie Portman, Christian Bale, Chris Pratt, Jaimie Alexander, Pom Klementieff, Dave Bautista, Karen Gillan, Sean Gunn, Jeff Goldblum, and Vin Diesel.
- Lightyear- June 17
Lightyear is an upcoming American 3D computer-animated film produced by Pixar set to be released on June 17, 2022. The film is a spin-off of the Toy Story franchise. It will be Pixar’s 26th animated feature.
- Black Panther: Wakanda Forever- July 8
Black Panther: Wakanda Forever is being directed by Ryan Coogler, who co-wrote the screenplay with Joe Robert Cole, and stars Lupita Nyong’o, Danai Gurira, Martin Freeman, Letitia Wright, Winston Duke, Angela Bassett, and Dominique Thorne.
- Blade- October 7
Blade stars Wesley Snipes in the title role with Stephen Dorff, Kris Kristofferson, and N’Bushe Wright in supporting roles.
- The Marvels- November 11
The Marvels features the characters Carol Danvers / Captain Marvel, Kamala Khan / Ms. Marvel, and Monica Rambeau. The film is directed by Nia DaCosta from a screenplay by Megan McDonnell and stars Brie Larson as Carol Danvers / Captain Marvel, Iman Vellani as Kamala Khan / Ms. Marvel, and Teyonah Parris as Monica Rambeau.
- Avatar Sequel- December 16
Avatar 2 is an American epic science fiction film directed by James Cameron and produced by 20th Century Studios it is the second film in Cameron’s Avatar franchise, following Avatar (2009).
