English Vinglish actor Sujata Kumar passes away in Mumbai after battling cancer
Actor Sujata Kumar, sister of Suchitra Krishnamoorthi, who played Sridevi’s sibling in English Vinglish passed away after battling stage four cancer. The news was confirmed by her sister Suchitra, who is also an actor and singer.
Suchitra took it to twitter, where she tweeted saying, “Our beloved Sujata Kumar has passed away and moved on to a better place leaving us with an unimaginable void. She left us an hour ago at 11.26 pm on the 19th of august 2018..Life can never be the same again…”

The mortal remains of Sujata Kumar would be cremated at the Juhu crematorium in Vile Parle on August 20.

According to a Spotboye report, the actor had fourth stage cancer, which was metastasised. She was admitted at Mumbai’s Lilavati hospital and her condition deteriorated, it was reported that she had multiple organ failure.
She appeared in English Vinglish back in 2012. Before that, she had done a few TV serials like Hotel Kingston (Star One) and Bombay Talking (Zee Cafe), but it wasn’t till English Vinglish that she became a known face. She had also appeared in Anil Kapoor’s 24 as Meghna Singhania. She has worked in other Bollywood films like Karan Johar’s Gori Tere Pyar Mein and Aanand L Rai’s Raanjhanaa, both in 2013. Sujata had also appeared in various TV commercials.
