England vs India: Virat Kohli, the lone warrior
Indian skipper Virat Kohli saved the day for team India as he scored a fighting 149 runs ensuring team India don’t fall behind in the game. Bowling all-rounder Sam Curran starred with the ball in hand as he picked four wickets giving India early headaches.
The run machine wasn’t supported by any batsman for long as wickets kept tumbling at regular intervals. The opening pair looked promising as they scored 50 without losing any wicket but once Murali Vijay fell it was England who dominated. Though they failed to get the better of Indian skipper who played the lone hand as India made 274 runs, just 13 short of England’s 287.

India began the second innings in the same manner as they did in the first innings. R Ashwin was brought into the attack as early as the second over. He picked Alastair cook in the same fashion once again. A tossed up off break delivery which clipped the top of off stump. This was the ninth occasion when Ashwin dismissed Cook in a Test match.
Coming back to Virat Kohli, the lone warrior who played a savior knock as England would have easily been in a winning position as of now. India was struggling immensely at a score of 182/8 but the fighting spirit of Kohli kept him going right till the end as he clinched his 22nd career hundred in Test matches, first on England soil. He also crossed the 1000 run mark against England in longest format of the game.
