The Primetime Emmy Awards 2021, the 73rd edition of premier television awards took place at the Event Deck at LA Live on the evening of Sunday, September 19, hosted by Cedric the Entertainer. It was an indoor-outdoor venue this year due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Ted Lasso established a new record by becoming the most-nominated freshman comedy series in the awards’ history with 20 nominations and The Crown won all seven drama categories, becoming the first show to sweep the major drama categories.
