An earthquake of magnitude 4.5 apparently hit Gujarat’s Gir Somnath region on Monday i.e May 17. According to the National Center for Seismology, the earthquake was recorded at 3.37 am with an epicenter one km East-South East of Una in the Gir Somnath district located in the Saurashtra region. As per the local media reports, the quakes were also felt in Una and Rajula areas in the state.
According to the reports, the earthquake took place at around 3:37 am and no loss of lives or major property damage has been reported yet.
For the unversed, Gujarat is also on high alert mode after the Meteorological Centre, Ahmedabad has stated that severe cyclonic storm is likely to move north-northwestward and reach Gujarat coast in evening hours and cross Gujarat coast between Porbandar and Mahuva during the night as the storm with a maximum sustained wind speed of 155-165 kmph gusting to 185 kmph.
