Earthquake in Assam, tremors felt in Bihar, West Bengal & Jammu and Kashmir
Strong tremors were felt in some parts of Assam, as the earthquake stuck Assam’s Kokrajhar on Wednesday. The Earthquake was measured at a magnitude of 5,6 on the Richter scale by the Indian Earthquake Centre.
According to the report, the mild tremors were also felt in West Bengal and Bihar too. Initially, it was not known where the epicentre of the earthquake was but later reports indicated that it was Assam.
According to the report, “Earthquake tremors were felt in almost the whole of West Bengal, including Kolkata as well as Jalpaiguri, Darjeeling, Cooch Behar, Malda and Murshidabad.”
In Bihar, earthquake tremors were felt in Patna as well as some parts of Kishanganj, Purnea and Katihar. Apart from Bihar, West Bengal, Tremors were also felt in Sikkim, Nagaland, Manipur and Arunachal Pradesh.
Whereas, the light earthquake and tremors were also reported in Jammu and Kashmir and Haryana too. An earthquake of magnitude 3.1 occurred at 5.43 am in Jhajjar, Haryana while an earthquake of magnitude 4.6 on the Richter Scale occurred at 5.15 am in Jammu and Kashmir.
