Doordarshan Brings Back Shri Krishna After Ramayan And Mahabharat

To keep the public entertained amid the lockdown, Doordarshan had re-telecast epic shows like Ramanand Sagar’s Ramayan and BR Chopra’s Mahabharat. The TRP of Doordarshan skyrocketed after these two shows were re-telecast. Now, it is bringing back yet another epic show i.e. Shri Krishna.

Shri Krishna aired between 1993-1996. It was one of the most-watched shows in the 90s. It was first telecast on Doordarshan’s Metro Channel (DD 2) from 1993. Then in 1996, DD National aired it from the beginning.
In 1999, it was telecast on Zee TV. In 2001, the show was again re-telecast on Sony and Star.
Krishna and Vishnu were played by Sarvadaman D. Banerjee, Swapnil Joshi played the teenage Lord Krishna, Ashok Kumar Balkrishnan as young Krishna, Deepak Deulkar was seen as Balram and Shesha, Pinky Parikh played Rukmini / Yamuna / Lakshmi / Durga and Reshma Modi was seen as Radha.
