‘Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah’ is one of the most popular television shows and also one of the longest-running Indian sitcoms by episode count. Did you know Divyanka Tripathi was offered the role of Disha Vakani’s role Daya Gada? Yes, you read that right! However, the actress turned it down.
Divyanka is known for playing Dr. Ishita Iyer Bhalla in ‘Yeh Hai Mohabbatein.’ The actress was offered many popular TV shows, but she rejected them. According to a report in KoiMoi, Tripathi also rejected shows like- ‘Kya Huaa Tera Vaada’, ‘Aaj Ki Housewife Hai… Sab Janti Hai’, ‘Punar Vivaah’ and ‘Kuch Toh Log Kahenge.’ However, the reason for her turning down these shows is unknown.
She made her acting debut in telefilms for Doordarshan. Later, she received recognition for Zee TV’s drama fiction ‘Banoo Main Teri Dulhann’ by playing the dual roles of Vidya, an orphan and illiterate girl, and Divya, a modern and literate girl. She then featured in the second season of Star Plus’s horror thriller ‘Ssshhhh…Phir Koi Hai’ and later she played the role of Rashmi Sharma, a housewife in SAB TV’s comedy-drama ‘Mrs. & Mr. Sharma Allahabadwale.’
