Dilip Kumar funeral: Legendary actor mortal remains draped in Indian tricolour
Dilip Kumar's funeral proceedings will begin soon. The mortal remains of the legendary actor have been wrapped in Indian tricolor.
On Wednesday, veteran actor Dilip Kumar passed away at Mumbai’s Hinduja Hospital. He was 98. A tweet posted from the actor’s official handle by family friend Faisal Farooqui read: “With a heavy heart and profound grief, I announce the passing away of our beloved Dilip saab a few minutes ago. We are from God and to him we return.”
Dr Jalil Parkar, who had been treating Dilip Kumar, told news agency PTI.“He passed away due to prolonged illness at 7.30 am.”
Earlier today, his mortal remains were taken to his Bandra residence. The legendary actor will be honored with a state funeral at 5 pm today. CM Uddhav Thackeray tweeted: “Chief Minister Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray has instructed that the funeral of veteran actor Dilip Kumar will be held in a state funeral.” The actor’s burial will be held at Juhu Qabrastan in Santacruz.
Maharashtra Police jawan was also seen at Dilip Kumar’s residence as they prepare to give state honor to the late actor. Kumar’s family friend Faisal Farooqui also shared a video as the veteran actor’s state funeral arrangements begin. In the video, the mortal remains of Dilip Kumar were seen been wrapped in Indian tricolor to honor him.

As the film industry mourned his demise, many celebrities like Shah Rukh Khan, Ranbir Kapoor, Karan Johar, Dharmendra, Shabana Azmi, Johnny Lever, Vidya Balan, and many others visited the late actor’s home in Mumbai to pay their final respects.
Reportedly, the funeral prayers of Dilip Kumar will be offered in absentia near his ancestral house at Mohallah Khudadad, Qissa Khawani Bazaar in Peshawar, Pakistan.
