Dilip Joshi who became a household name after his portrayal of Jethalal Gada in the popular television serial, Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah celebrates his 53rd birthday today. The series aired in 2008 and is one of the longest-running Indian sitcoms by episode count.

Dilip Joshi started his acting career in 1989, playing the role of Ramu in the film Maine Pyar Kiya which starred Salman Khan and Bhagyashree.
While doing BCA (Bachelor of Computer Application) Dilip Joshi was awarded the INT (Indian National Theater) Best software Engineer.
The actor is married to Jaymala Joshi and they are blessed with two children, a son Ritwik Joshi and a daughter Neeyati Joshi.
Dilip Joshi was a part of Gujarati theatre for over 25 years and his last play was ‘Daya Bhai Do Dhaya’ which ended in 2007.
He has also appeared in films like Phir Bhi Dil Hai Hindustani, Hum Aapke Hain Koun..!, What’s Your Raashee? and much more.
Before bagging TMKOC, reportedly, he was first offered the role of Jethalal’s father Champaklal Gada.
For his performance in TMKOC, Dilip has received several accolades, including 5 Telly awards and 2 ITA awards.
