Finally, it is here; Sushant Singh Rajput‘s most awaited film ‘Dil Bechara’ is streaming on Disney Plus Hotstar. The movie marks the debut of Mukesh Chabbra as director and Sanjana Sanghi as the leading lady. It is based on the popular best selling novel ‘The Fault in Our Stars’ written by John Green. The book was adapted into a 2014 Hollywood movie of the same name and featured Ansel Elgort and Shailene Woodley in the lead roles. Chabbra has perfectly localized the characters.
STORY:
The main plot of ‘Dil Bechara revolves around Kizie and Manny. While Kizie has thyroid cancer, Manny had osteosarcoma. Love blossoms between the two cancer patients and soon despite the tragedy looming large they steal some memorable moments from fate. Manny and Kizzie will steal your hearts with their innocence and belief in living life to the fullest despite knowing the inevitable. The journey that they take together as they help each evolve will keep you hooked till the end.

Sushant Singh shines as the peppy Manny who likes to live life to the fullest despite the unfavorable odds. His Swan song makes it an emotional watch. Sushant Singh Rajput has given a stellar performance that is lively and vulnerable. He easily gets under the skin of the character and wins you over with his adorable performance. Be it in the comedy scenes or emotional moments, he effortlessly lights up the screen with his presence. Sushanth Singh Rajput’s amazing screen presence holds the film completely.
Debutante Sanjana Sanghi oozes confidence and is a perfect foil to Sushant’s exuberant character. The way she has handled the difficult character showcases her acting skills. She is cute, has superb screen presence, and will go far in the long run for sure.
The supporting cast, Swastika Mukherjee, and Saswata Chatterjee as Kizie’s parents are superb. Saif Ali Khan in a cameo leaves his mark. The soundtrack composed by A.R. Rahman has some fantastic, foot-tapping numbers. The cinematography by Satyajit Pande is beautiful especially the Paris moments.
Director Mukesh Chhabra has proved that he is not only good in casting but direction too. The last few minutes of Dil Bechara where things get emotional has been handled like a pro by the director. Writers Suprotim Sengupta and Shashank Khaitan ensure the narrative flows without a hitch. There are a number of emotional scenes that will definitely bring you to tears.
Watch this movie simply to witness Sushant Singh Rajput’s last act. His sweet smile will remain with you long after you watch the emotional love story.
