Argentine legend Diego Maradona has been appointed the coach of the Mexican second division football club Dorados, the club announced on Thursday.
“Dorados of Sinaloa is pleased to announce Diego Armando Maradona is the new manager of the ‘Big Fish,” said the club in a statement.
“Considered by many to be the best footballer of all time, Diego was known in his playing career for leading teams with guts and fight to carry them to successes that few believed possible,” the statement further read.

The club also posted a short video online with a message “‘Welcome Diego to the Big Fish!’ The 1986 World Cup winner, who has earlier coached the Argentina national team and a host of clubs in his native country as well as in the United Arab Emirates, will replace the outgoing coach Francisco Gamez at the helm.
Gamez was reportedly sacked from his post after managing just three points from a possible 15 into the season, leaving Dorados placed 13th in the 15 team table.
Maradona is expected to reach Dorados this weekend and will take charge of the team on September 15 when his new club faces Cafetaleros de Tapachula.
