The Deputy CM Manish Sisodia spoke on the topic of ‘strong states make stronger nation’ at a conclave organised by PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry and said that the national capital has the worst kind of governance model which has been further complicated because of multiple agencies of the Centre, Delhi government and local bodies being involved, thus leading to a ‘confusing’ situation.
The AAP government in Delhi continues to be involved in a fight with the Centre and the office of Lieutenant Governor over matters of governance, inspite of the Supreme Court order last month which gave it executive powers in all the subjects except land, law and order and police.
A report by Deccan Chronicle quoted him saying, “If you have to seek permission to hold an event, you will have to first determine which agency to approach. There should be clarity on issues of governance otherwise the state becomes weak.”
He also added that this confusion in matters of governance is not good for the stakeholders as well and that in order to prosper, businesses require a strong state.
