Uncle rapes niece for 4-year on pretext of treating ‘Manglik dosh’, arrested

The Police have arrested a man for allegedly raping his 23-year-old niece for four years on the pretext of treating her of  ‘Manglik dosh’, police said. The accused had raped her niece even after the victim got married.

According to the Police, the accused man is said to be a paternal uncle of the woman. He had allegedly told the victim that her father would die, if ‘Manglik Dosh’ was not treated.

The accused continued to rape the woman regularly even after her marriage. It is when the victim decided to bring the matter to the notice of her father-in-law, the police said.

The victim’s father-in-law took her to Narela Police Station and lodged an FIR on September 13. “The accused is the paternal uncle of the victim who was arrested the same day of the FIR,” police said. According to the report, the police contacted the Delhi Commission for Women to provide counselling to the victim.

This was not the first incident came to light in Delhi, in which a niece was raped by her uncle. Last month,  Noida Police have arrested 31-year-old man for allegedly raping his 7-year-old niece after giving her sedative mixed cold drink. The minor lives in Delhi and had come to stay with her uncle and aunt in Noida Sector 15.

When the victim’s father reached the uncle’s home, he found her daughter unconscious. Later, the girl told her father that since the time she had come to stay with her uncle, he used to give her cold drink and after consuming the laced drink she would lose consciousness, Police told PTI.
