On Friday, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has announced that a phased unlock process will begin in Delhi from 31 May. He also said that lockdown restrictions will be relaxed from June 1 in the state and it will last till Monday, 5 am. The lockdown in Delhi came into effect on April 20 and is in force till May 31.
The Chief Minister of Delhi said: “This lockdown will last till 5 am of Monday. We will begin the unlocking process. Construction activities and factories will be reopened from Monday keeping the daily wage workers in mind.”
The factories and Construction activities in the national capital will be allowed to resume work.
“Positivity rate has come down to 1.5% & around 1,100 cases have been reported in the last 24 hours in Delhi: Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal,” reported news agency ANI.
“At a meeting of Delhi Disaster Management Authority on Friday, it was decided that the lockdown be lifted gradually. In the process, we have to take care of the lowest strata first … daily wagers, laborers, migrant workers,” said Kejriwal.
The Delhi CM said that unlock will be extended every week based on expert opinions, only if the Coronavirus situation remains stable and cases do not go up again.
Kejriwal’s decision came after Delhi recorded around 1,100 fresh COVID-19 infections in the last 24 hours. The positivity rate has also come down to 1.5%. Beds, including ICU beds, oxygen beds are also available in the city now,” Kejriwal said.
