Poonch: Union Defence Minister Nirmala Sitaraman is on a visit to 44 Rashtriya Rifles rifleman Aurangzeb’s family in Poonch on Wednesday. Aurangzeb was abducted and killed by the terrorists last week, just days before when he was on his way to celebrate Eid in Pulwama.
With the current visit, this is the first time that Sitaraman went to any martyr’s house after becoming the Defence Minister. Previously in 2017 too, Rajputana Rifles’ personnel Omar Faiz was abducted by the terrorists in Kashmir and was killed. However, no minister either from the state or from the Union visited their family.
Sending a strong message that the country will not spare any terrorist, which has affected the peace and prosperity of the nation, prior to the Defence Minister Army Chief Bipin Rawat too visited the family of Aurangzeb yesterday. Soon after the visit, Sitaraman is supposed to meet Northern Command chief Lt Gen Ranbir Singh and discuss the strategy of future course of actions operations.
After meeting the family the Defence Minister said, “I came to meet martyr’s family. I have spent some time here. One message I can take back from here is that here’s a family, here’s a martyr, who stands out as an inspiration for entire nation.”
Citing action against the terrorist, Aurangzeb’s father, Mohammed Hanif had said earlier, “I give PM Modi 72 hours to avenge my son’s death or else we are ready to take revenge on our own. Kashmir is ours. We must not let Kashmir burn. Instead, we must eliminate the goons who are destroying the Valley.”
It comes as a surprise that just after a day BJP broke its alliance with the Mehbooba Mufti government in Kashmir, Defence Minister is meeting the families of martyr Aurangzeb. Not only Aurangzeb, but his family members too have served the nation. His brother, uncle and father all have or are now serving in the army. Aurangzeb was on the team of Major Rohit Shukla, which eliminated Hizbul Mujahideen terrorist Sameer Tiger.
