Banned Australian opener David Warner left the cricket field on Saturday after he was sledged, suggests reports from AFP.
Warner was playing for his club Randwick-Petersham at the time of the incident. The left-hander is currently under a one-year ban from international and state-level cricket for his involvement in the infamous ball-tampering saga that hit Australian cricket hard, earlier this year.
He was batting in the 30s when this happened, reports news.com.au. The former Australia vice-captain wasn’t too happy with a comment from a player of the opposition and made clear to an umpire that he was walking off the match. However, it still not known as to what exactly was said to him.
Further reports state that he was talked into returning to the match by his teammates after which the aggressive right-hander went on to power his way to a hundred.
Many in social media didn’t appreciate Warner’s behaviour saying that it was always only about him.
A comment on Twitter read,” Again, it is all about him..”Umpires are there to deal with on-field incidents, but not David ME ME ME Warner.”
But there were some who offered their support to the batsman as one even called for his inclusion into the Australian team.
“David Warner has scored another century today 100 not out. Cricket Australia reinstate the legend,”a tweet read.
Warner, Steve Smith and Cameron Bancroft were the condemned trio after their involvement in the ball-tampering row in South Africa earlier this year in March.
In fact, Warner was named the mastermind behind the move which was carried out by Bancroft when he attempted to alter the condition of the ball using sandpaper.
