A brand new poster of 20th Century Fox upcoming release Dark Phoenix is out. The new poster promoting the Chinese release of the upcoming X-Men sequel has found its way online. The visually stunning piece of art reimagines Jean Grey, in traditional Chinese artwork.

In the poster, we see Jean, dressed in traditional Chinese garb, seemingly takes flight. She is surrounded by fire, water, mountains, and even a stylized X-Men logo. The mutant is joined by a Fenghuang, a mythical bird found in East Asian mythology. This bird is referred to as the “Chinese Phoenix” in the West.
The poster was first unveiled by several China-based Twitter users including C-Drama Tweets, account. It also reveals the release date of Dark Phoenix in China. The Sophie Turner starrer will release on June 6, which is one day before the U.S. release.
The story of ‘Dark Phoenix’ revolves around Jean being possessed by the ancient cosmic entity known as the Phoenix Force. Wrestling with her inner demons and the new entity within her Jean unleashes her powers in ways she can not contain. The X-Men unite not only to find a way to unite to save Jean but to save the planet from aliens who wish to weaponize this force and rule the galaxy.
Directed and written by Simon Kinberg, ‘Dark Phoenix’ stars James McAvoy as Professor X, Michael Fassbender as Magneto, Jennifer Lawrence as Mystique, Nicholas Hoult as Beast, Sophie Turner as Jean Grey, Tye Sheridan as Cyclops, Alexandra Shipp as Storm, Kodi Smit-McPhee as Nightcrawler, Evan Peters as Quicksilver and Jessica Chastain. The film arrives in theaters June 7.
