South African fast bowler Dale Steyn who is known for his fast hostile bowling has announced that he will say goodbye to the limited over format post the 2019 ICC Cricket World Cup.

In recent times, he has been known for his injury spree rather than his bowling. The veteran fast bowler is very rarely seen in Protean side as he picks injury quite frequently which has immensely effected his bowling in terms of pace and accuracy. Still he is very much hopeful of making it to South African squad for the all important World Cup.

“I will be trying to get to that World Cup. But after the World Cup I don’t see myself playing white ball cricket for South Africa. By the time the next World Cup comes, I will be 40,” said the 35-year-old Steyn at a promotional event.
Dale Steyn made a comeback against Sri Lanka in the recently conducted Test series. He found it difficult to pick wickets in both the Test matches as the Lankan’s showed dominant all round performance. They won the series comprehensively by beating South Africa 2-0.
“The wickets were tough to play on. Sri Lanka played good cricket. They played their cards right. Preparation was difficult. They came out trumps. Hats off to them; they played better cricket,” he said.
Steyn also showed concern over new rules which has made the game of cricket batsman friendly. Using two balls in an innings takes away a lot of important aspects like reverse swing away from the game.
“Players are going to the extent of taking sandpaper on the field. It might sound funny, but it’s a desperate plea for cricket to change. Players are getting into more trouble trying to make the ball do something.”, he added.
