On Tuesday i.e. May 18, at around 7:30 am the Cyclone Tauktae lay centered over Saurashtra, Gujarat—about 110 km north-northeast of Diu and 10 km east of Amreli—as a Severe Cyclonic Storm. The wind intensity at its center was recorded at 110-120 kmph, gusting to 130 kmph. The gusty wind led to several distractions and high tides. Reportedly, Maharashtra will continue to feel the after-effects of the cyclone and the North Konkan region is particularly expected to experience isolated heavy rains until the afternoon-according to the forecast by the IMD department.
