The cricket world salutes King Kohli for his majestic 10k milestone

Virat Kohli surpassed the record of Sachin Tendulkar as the fastest batsman to complete 10,000 runs in ODI cricket. He also recorded his 37th ODI century

Virat Kohli continued to raise the standard of cricket with another century – his number 37 – and in the process completed 10,000 runs in One-Day cricket.

Kohli surpassed the record of Sachin Tendulkar as the fastest batsman to complete 10,000 runs in ODI cricket. While the Master Blaster took 259 innings to achieve the milestone, Kohli did it in 54 less innings to complete 10,000 runs.

He is also the fastest batsman to achieve the milestone in terms of innings, balls faced, quickest from debut and also with the highest average.

Apart from Tendulkar and Kohli, Sourav Ganguly and MS Dhoni are the other batsmen to have achieved the landmark of completing 10,000 ODI runs.

Twitter couldn’t stop praising this superhuman for his consistency and many cricketers from all over the world congratulated the India skipper for his records and 37th century. It was also Kohli’s second century in as many matches for the India captain.

Kohli made 157 runs in just 129 deliveries with 13 fours and four massive sixes as made 321 for six wickets in 50 overs. He was well supported by Ambati Rayudu, who made 73 runs,  sharing a 139-run partnership with the skipper to rescue his side for a 40/2 situation.

India currently leads the five-match ODI series by 1-0 after beating West Indies by eight wickets in the first match in Guwahati.
