India recorded a rapid surge in Coronavirus cases over the last few weeks. The highest single-day spike has crossed the mark of 3.14 lakh cases as of by Thursday. The Health Ministry recently announced about kickstarting the above 18-year-old vaccination drive across all states. Earlier the ministry executed the vaccination process as per age and other categories. Health officials and frontline workers received vaccines in first phase, people between 45 and above age received vaccines in the second phase. Now the ministry is all set to accelerate phase 3 of COVID-19 vaccination and it will start on May 1, 2021. Here’s everything you need to know about registration for CoWIN and guidelines.

How to register for the COVID-19 vaccines?
The Indian government officially announced kickstarting phase 3 of vaccination for the above 18-year-old category. The registration process is done through the CoWIN portal and Aarogya Setu mobile application. After login into these portals, you can search for nearby vaccination centers and complete the registration process.
Registration In Easy Steps:
- Visit the official website of CoWIN i.e cowin.gov.in
- Tap on the ‘register/sign in yourself’ option
- Enter your 10-digit mobile number or Aadhaar number
- You will receive an OTP on your mobile number.
- Enter the OTP in the space provided and continue
- Once you complete the registration, you can choose the schedule for your appointment
- Choose your nearby center, date and time for the vaccination
- After the successful registration, you would get a reference ID through which you can get your vaccination certificate
Registration Process In Aarogya Setu App:
- Open Aarogya Setu app > Click on CoWIN tab
- Click on Vaccination Registration> Enter Phone Number > Enter OTP
- Click on Verify> this will lead you to the Registration of Vaccination page
- Follow the steps for further registration through CoWIN portal guidelines.

How does the vaccination process take place?
Registered citizens need to visit the registered center on the registered date and time. The vaccination process will be done in a two-phase format for two shots of the vaccine. As per the CoWIN portal, the second dose of Covaxin should be taken between 28 days to 42 days after the first dose. The second dose of Covishield should be taken between 28 days to 56 days after the first dose.
