India: COVID-19 vaccine to all above 18 years from May 1
The government announced that everyone above the age of 18 to be eligible to get vaccine from 1 May
On Monday, the central government stated that the Coronavirus vaccination for all people above the age of 18 years will be eligible. The announcement comes after a meeting chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi to discuss the rise in the daily surge in the COVID cases.

The vaccines have been made stretchable in phase 3 of the nationwide vaccination drive. The national vaccine also aims to broaden the vaccine pricing and ascend up vaccine coverage.
Under Phase 3 of the COVID vaccination strategy, vaccine manufacturers would supply 50% of their monthly Central Drugs Laboratory released doses to Govt of India & would be free to supply the remaining 50% doses to State Govts and in the open market.
Based on this price, state governments, private hospitals, industrial establishments, etc would be able to acquire vaccine doses from the manufacturers.
Vaccination will continue as before in Govt. of India vaccination centers, provided free of cost to the eligible population as defined earlier i.e. Health Care Workers (HCWs), Front Line Workers (FLWs), and all people above 45 years of age.
All vaccination will be part of the National Vaccination Programme and instructed to follow all protocols such as being captured on CoWIN platform, linked to AEFI reporting, and all other advised norms. Stocks and prices per vaccination relevant in all vaccination centres will also have to be reported in real-time.
In January, this year, the nationwide vaccination program was launched for healthcare and front-line workers. The Central Government at present is making the vaccine available only to those above the age of 45 years.
