India currently stands at the second position in the world, after the US to have been worst hit by the pandemic Coronavirus outspread. The highest single-day rise with fresh cases has recently crossed 3. 49 lakh mark as of by Sunday. Maharashtra, Delhi, West Bengal, Karnataka and few other states have contributed the highest number of cases towards the nation’s total COVID-19 tally. The national capital now imposes one more week’s lockdown as the cases keep surging.
In a virtual press conference, Arvind Kejriwal made the announcement of imposing one more week’s lockdown. He said, “Coronavirus still continues to wreak havoc in the city. Public opinion is that lockdown should increase. So the lockdown is being extended for one week. The virus keeps creating panic and thus we had imposed a 6-day lockdown in Delhi. The lockdown is being extended to next Monday till 5 am. While the positivity rate has reduced, Delhi has been seeing an acute shortage of medical oxygen.”
CM Kejriwal also revealed that the decision of the new lockdown has been taken after considering all the votes. “The positivity rate reached up to 36-37 percent in the past few days although it has slightly dipped now. It is around 29 percent today,” he stated. As per the reports, Delhi recorded around 348 deaths and 24, 000 fresh Coronavirus cases in last 24 hrs of span.
