The Coronavirus Pandemic has hit the countries across the globe. Governments are working round the clock to contain the spread by imposing lockdown. India too is doing the same. The number of new COVID-19 cases in India hit a new high with states registering 3,900 coronavirus patients in last 24 hours. The total number of coronavirus cases in the country climbed to 46,433.
Maharashtra continued to report the highest number of cases. The total number of coronavirus patients in the state stood at 14,541. Mumbai alone recorded 510 new cases of coronavirus, taking the total number in the city past the 9000-mark. Along with that, 18 people died in a day, taking the cumulative figure of deaths to 361.

As reported by Mumbai Mirror, the Mahalaxmi Racecourse will have a 200-bed isolation facility in its parking lot. The Nehru Planetarium, the Nehru Science Centre, Mahim Nature Park, and MMRDA grounds in Bandra are some of the other places in the city which will be converted into isolation facilities. More beds will be added to Byculla’s Richardson Cruddas factory and NSCI dome, Worli which are already isolation centres.
The report adds, Nehru planetarium and the Nehru Science Centre are being converted into isolation centers with 200 and 100 beds respectively. 200 isolation beds are being added at the defunct Richardson Cruddas factory near JJ Hospital. 600 beds are being laid out at the Mahim Nature Park, in suburban Bandra-east, MMRDA grounds will soon have a 500-bed isolation ward.
Municipal Commissioner Praveen Pardeshi said that the BMC’s target is to have 76,000 isolation beds ready as soon as possible.
