Currently, there is one question in everyone’s mind. Will the lockdown be lifted on April 14? Prime Minister Narendra Modi said on Wednesday that it will not be possible to lift the nationwide lockdown on April 14 as the country reported more than 5000 cases of the coronavirus disease.
A meeting was held via video conference and the Prime Minister talked about the complete lockdown with the floor leaders of political parties.
During the meeting, PM Modi called the current situation in the country similar to a ‘social emergency’. He said, “My government’s priority is saving each and every life. Today’s discussion reflects constructive and positive politics, reaffirms India’s strong democratic foundations and spirit of cooperative federalism.”
“States, District administrations and experts have suggested extension of lockdown to contain the spread of the virus,” PM Modi told the leaders of the political parties.
Earlier states like Uttar Pradesh and Telangana also suggested for the extension. There are reports that the final decision will be taken after Prime Minister talks with all Chief Ministers via video conference on April 11. PM Modi announced a 21-day lockdown pan-India from March 24 midnight.
Meanwhile, the COVID-19 positive cases have spiked to 5477 and 167 deaths caused till now.
