Owing to the lockdown restrictions the delivery services were allowed to only carry grocery/kicthen/healthcare items. Now Delhi government has allowed the home delivery of liquor which are ordered on their respective mobile applications or websites. On Tuesday i.e June 1, the permissions came into force and home delivery of Indian and foreign liquor will start for customers who place the orders online.
According to the Delhi Excise (Amendment) Rules, 2021, published in a gazette notification on Monday, holders of the L-13 licenses will be allowed to deliver liquor to the doorstep of people. The notification apparently says, “Licence in Form L-13 for home delivery of Indian liquor and Foreign Liquor by ordering through mobile app or online web portal. The licensee shall make delivery of liquor at the residences only if order is received through mobile app or online web portal and no delivery shall be made to any hostel, office, and institution.”
For the unversed, the Supreme Court reportedly had asked the states to consider allowing home delivery of liquor after crowding was observed outside the alcohol shops amidst the lockdown restrictions. The decision has been reportedly taken to stop people from gathering in crowd outside the liquor shops.
