With the start of winter season the pandemic Coronavirus spread recorded a sudden surge. Nations across the world are preparing for the second wave and health departments from all across are putting efforts on making the vaccines. Now, the chief of the global health body has warned that the rich and powerful countries must not trample the poor and marginalized ‘in the stampede for vaccines’. The UN chief also highlighted about that the world can start dreaming about of COVID-19 pandemic’s end.
In its recent address to the UN General Assembly’s, World Health Organisation Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said that while the virus can be stopped, “the path ahead remains treacherous,” as there are still chances that rich and powerful section of society might affected the poor and supply of vaccines to them.
“The pandemic has shown humanity at its best and worst, inspiring acts of compassion and self-sacrifice, breathtaking feats of science and innovation, and heartwarming demonstrations of solidarity, but also disturbing signs of self-interest, blame-shifting and divisions. We cannot and we must not go back to the same exploitative patterns of production and consumption, the same disregard for the planet that sustains all life, the same cycle of panic and meddling and the same divisive politics that fueled this pandemic,” he added further.
