The outspread of Coronavirus led the nation towards complete lockdown for more than two months. While the entire nation was imposed with the lockdown, the spreading of the virus was still not under control. As a result Maharashtra, inlcuding few other states become the stated with highest number of COVID-19 positive cases. After Dharavi, Mumbai’s Andheri becomes the next COVID-19 hotspot.
As per the latest reports, in the past two days, as many as 25+ cases have come up in Andheri’s Shantiwada area near Andheri station’s west road. This makes Andheri West one of the most affected areas after Dharavi and Worli. According to a report in India Today report, “K west ward has reported 25 cases and consists of prime areas like Juhu, Vile Parle, Andheri and Versova. Most cases have been reported in high-rises and bungalows and are of those with international travel history.”
Andheri East and Jogeshwari areas are dominated by slum areas, which covers approximately 70% of the area. Apparently, almost 166 fresh cases were reported from Andheri west in one single day. With the cases increasing rapidly, the total number is not yet known, and we are waiting for the finer details.
