COVID-19 Pandemic: Rate of patient recovery in India rises to 13%, up from last week's 8%
The number of positive COVID-19 cases are on the rise in India. At present we have 13,500 in the country and it is a major cause of concern. But there is good news too as the rate of recovery has also increased to 13% from 8% last week. Statistics indicate a positive trend in the number of patients recovering from novel coronavirus across the nation.
On Friday, the Ministry of Health has revealed that the number of Covid-19 patients who have recovered from the disease or have been discharged stood at 1748. This is nearly 13% of the total 13387 coronavirus cases who tested positive in the country.
Last Saturday, there were around 7,447 coronavirus cases in the country. Out of which 642 patients were reported to have recovered from the deadly contagion. The figure roughly amounted to nearly 8% of the Covid-19 cases. But the number of recoveries has risen from 8% to 13% within a week.
The Highest cases of recovery come from Maharashtra the state that is worst affected by the coronavirus pandemic. With over 3000 Covid-19 cases, the state accounts for 300 patients who have recovered or have been discharged. Kerala stands second with the second-highest number of patients recovering from coronavirus. Telangana and Tamil Nadu have seen 186 and 180 Covid-19 patients recover from the virus respectively.
India is currently under a nationwide lockdown which started March 25. Initially, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had announced that a 21-day lockdown till April 14, however, it was extended till May 3 now virus cases continue to surge across the country.
