Coronavirus outbreak: Cinemas, schools & colleges to remain shut in Delhi till March 31

The deadly Coronavirus has taken over the world and the Internet alike. Many important events across the globe are being delayed, large gatherings avoided and cancellations of important government and sports events are its after-effects. Now, the Delhi government has declared that cinema, schools, colleges will remain shut till March 31, 2020.

Today, the Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal said, “All cinema halls to remain shut in Delhi till 31st March. Schools and colleges where exams are not being held will also remain closed.”

As a safety measure to manage coronavirus extent, all the public places in Delhi will be disinfected. Whereas the empty flats occupied by Delhi Urban Shelter Improvement Board will be used for quarantine, Kejriwal said.

“Disinfecting all public places, including government, private offices, and shopping malls, has been made compulsory,” Kejriwal added.

As per the Delhi government, they are ready to install over 500 beds in various Delhi hospitals.

On Thursday, Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, tweeted, saying, “Say No to Panic, Say Yes to Precautions. No Minister of the Central Government will travel abroad in the upcoming days. I urge our countrymen to also avoid non-essential travel. We can break the chain of spread and ensure safety of all by avoiding large gatherings.”

Apart from that, India has decided to suspend all tourist visas to prevent the spread of coronavirus in the country. The decision was taken by the government at the meeting of a group of ministers held here under the chairmanship of Health Minister Harsh Vardhan, aviation minister Hardeep Puri and foreign minister S Jaishankar.
