Mumbai man kills brother for wanting to go out during COVID-19 lockdown!
In a first of its kind crime, a Mumbai man was arrested for killing his brother during coronavirus lockdown. A man from Samata Nagar area of Kandivli, in the far western suburbs of Mumbai was arrested for allegedly killing his brother. The reason being he had stepped out of the house amid the coronavirus lockdown. The lockdown has been imposed to curb the spread of coronavirus.
As reported by DC, The accused identified as Rajesh Laxmi Thakur killed his younger brother Durgesh after the former along with his wife stepped out of the house to buy groceries in the market on Wednesday afternoon. The deceased has been identified as Durgesh Laxmi Thakur (21). His brother, Rajesh Laxmi Thakur (29) has been arrested by the Samata Nagar police station.
Durgesh worked in a private company in Pune but came to Mumbai to stay with his brother during the shutdown. Rajesh had been advising and warning Durgesh against stepping out. But he did not pay heed and stepped out with his wife for grocery shopping.
The report added, When the couple returned from the market, Durgesh questioned them about the urgency to buy groceries amid the lockdown. Following this, an argument ensued between the brothers and Rajesh attacked his younger brother with a kitchen knife. Durgesh sustained serious injuries and was rushed to a nearby hospital where he was declared brought dead.
Rajesh, who owns a local saloon in Kandivli (East) was booked under the Indian Penal Code section for murder (302) and produced in a local magistrate court. He is remanded to police custody.
