India on Sunday recorded 80,834 fresh cases of coronavirus disease (Covid-19), according to the Union health ministry. The nation has reported the lowest number of fresh single-day cases in 71 days. This is the sixth consecutive day when India has reported less than one lakh coronavirus cases. With 3,303 death in the last 24 hours, the death toll now stands at 3,70,384 deaths with 3,303. This is the sixth consecutive day that India has registered less than one lakh coronavirus cases.
These numbers come as India struggles with the second wave of the deadly coronavirus disease that has killed over 3 million people worldwide.
India’s overall COVID tally now stands at 2,94,39,989 with 10,26,159 active cases. As per the Health Ministry, a total of 1,32,062 people have been discharged in the last 24 hours, taking the total discharge to 2,80,43,446 to date.
37,81,32,474 samples were tested for COVID-19, up to 12th June 2021. Of these, 19,00,312 samples were tested yesterday said the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR). Also, 25,31,95,048 people have been vaccinated so far in the country.
The daily positivity rate went down to 4.25%, and the recovery rate increased to 95.26% in the last 24 hours.
