Santiago Solari’s coaching career with the Real Madrid senior team got off to a fine start with the La Liga giants securing an easy 4-0 win over UD Mestilla in the first leg of the Copa Del Rey last -32 on Thursday.
Solari, the coach of the Real Madrid’s Castilla ‘B’ team was handed the charge on an interim basis on Monday after Julen Lopetegui was sacked following the 1-5 humiliation in the El Clasico a day prior.
But on Thursday, Real Madrid showed glimpses of their old self when goals from Karim Benzema, Marcos Asensio, Alvaro Odriozola and Cristo Gonzalez sealed an much-needed emphatic victory for the former La Liga champions.
But Real Madrid would have to name a new head coach real soon as Spanish regulations state that an interim coach can only be in charge of the team for 14 days and after a day more, he would either have to be appointed or dismissed.

But Solari’s primary focus would now rest on Real Madrid’s matches against Vallaloid on Saturday, against Viktoria Plzen in the Champions League on November 7 and Celta Vigo the next Sunday.
