Madhya Pradesh state Congress party on Sunday wrote a letter to the Election Commission alleging a violation of the code of conduct by Prime Minister Narendra Modi while addressing a rally at Chindwara, earlier this month.
In the letter addressed to Madhya Pradesh’s Chief Election Commissioner, V L Kantha Rao, the Congress claimed PM Modi ‘lied’ to the voters by saying that Kamal Nath had purposely said in a video that the party would not mind giving tickets to goons, thieves or inhumans because winning the election was the most important thing.
Earlier, while campaigning for his party in Madhya Pradesh Modi had targetted Congress leader Kamal Nath by mentioning about a video in which the congressmen is heard saying that tickets would be given to a ‘winnable candidate and his character is not important’.
“A recent video has surfaced on the internet in which a senior Congress leader from this state is caught saying that for winning these polls, they’re ready to take support from goons and those who don’t obey the law. Such a thing is absolutely unacceptable,” said the Prime Minister reports ANI.
Madhya Pradesh goes to polls on November 28 with the results out 15 days later.
