After a biopic on Indian cricket legends Sachin Tendulkar, Mahendra Singh Dhoni and Mohammad Azharuddin. We shall now have Sourav Ganguly‘s life portrayed on the big screen. Yes, the former Indian cricket captain has said yes to the project. Reportedly it is going to be a big-budget film, amounting to Rs 200 crore to Rs 250 crore. The top contender for the role is Bollywood heartthrob Ranbir Kapoor.
The news was confirmed by Saurav Ganguly himself. “Yes, I have agreed to the biopic. It will be in Hindi but it is not possible to say the name of the director now. It will take a few more days for arranging everything,” Ganguly told News18.
As reported by sources, The movie will capture the entire journey of Sourav Ganguly. From his days as a young cricketer and becoming the captain of the Indian National team to his historic win at the Lords and finally becoming the president of the BCCI. The production house has not only met Ganguly but also decided on the actor who will portray Sourav Ganguly on the screen. Ranbir Kapoor is said to be the top contender for the role. Two more actors are also being considered.
According to reports, Sourav Ganguly was approached by many production houses for his biopic. From Ekta Kapoor to Fox Star Studios, many production houses expressed their wish to make a film on his life. But he always rejected the offer. It is said that Viacom has convinced him to do the biopic under their banner.
