CoA seek explanation from Rahul Johri after allegations of sexual harassment surfaced
The Committee of Administrators has given Rahul Johri a week’s time to explain his actions after the BCCI CEO was accused of sexual assault by an unnamed woman on Twitter.
Johri became the first person in Indian cricket to be accused of sexual misconduct after author Harnidh Kaur posted screenshots on Twitter wherein the victim alleged Johri of taking advantage of her on the pretext of offering her when he was the head of sales of a “niche satellite channel.’
The CoA, in a statement, has asked Johri to explain these allegations.
“The reports disclose allegations of sexual harassment made against Mr. Johri, by an unnamed person through a twitter handle. The allegations also relate to his previous employment with a large media house,” the statement read.

“Though the said allegations do not pertain to his employment with the BCCI, the Committee of Administrators of the BCCI has deemed it appropriate to seek an explanation from Mr. Johri in relation to the allegations.
“He has been asked to submit his explanation within a week. The future course of action will be considered on receipt of his explanation,” it added further.
Johri is slated to be BCCI’s representative at the ICC’s executive meeting from October 17 to 18. The Vinod Rai-led panel, however, has stated that it hasn’t taken any functional powers from Johri.
