Panchkula: Class XI student stabbed to death outside school, class IX student held
A class IX student has been arrested on Wednesday by authorities, two days after a class 11 student was stabbed to death with the help of 15 to 20 local youths outside his school in sector 7, Panchkula, reported ANI.
In the incident, a class X student was also injured in order to save the deceased student. It is still not clear, what led to an altercation between them. There are some reports claiming, Class XI student, named Vikas Kumar was stabbed after he took a stand against eve-teasing.
According to Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Abhishek Jorwal, the victim on Saturday had slapped the accused for snatching his friend’s mobile phone which led to the murder. Indian Express reported. The other youth who took part in this killing, is suspected to be from the Industrial Training Institute (ITI) in the city.

The Haryana Police also arrested some minors in connection with the student’s death. The arrests have reportedly been done on the basis of some eyewitnesses and after watching the CCTV footage.
“Two accused involved in the murder have been arrested and charged under Justice Juvenile Act, 2015. With the help of the CCTV footage and names given by students, cops managed to identify the minors,” Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Abhishek Jorwal was quoted as saying by media reports.
The investigation into the matter is underway, the DCP added. While the deceased student’s family has reportedly staged a protest on Tuesday and alleged that Police is not taking the matter seriously.
Relatives of the victim had blocked the Kalka-Shimla road for a few minutes on Tuesday, demanding quick action.
According to the report, the relatives of the deceased initially did not allow the post-mortem to be done. but after much persuasion by the police officials, they allowed the post-mortem at the General Hospital in Sector 6.
