China kindergarten stabbing injures 14 kids
In a heart wrenching incident in western China, at least 14 children have been injured in a knife attack in a kindergarten.
According to police, the incident happened on a Friday morning. The attacker, who is a 39-year-old woman, was arrested following the mass assault in the city of Chongqing. Her motive behind this heinous act is uncertain, officers said.
According to the Police report, as the children of Xinshiji Kindergarten were returning to classes, the accused woman started stabbing them in a frenzy. The incident took place at about 9:30 am on Friday. The Kindergarten is located in the outskirts of the city.
According to BBC report on the same incident, though the local force confirmed that all victims were receiving treatment at a nearby hospital. But it used social media to deny reports that two children had scummed to their injuries, and urged internet users not to pass on ‘rumour’.
Diverting questions to the local government, a doctor at the city’s Banan People’s Hospital confirmed the children were there but refused to divulge any further details.
Only the surname of the attacker was revealed as Liu. According to a a very disturbing footage posted on social media, it appeared to show injured children walking to ambulances from the school gate, while few being carried on stretchers.

Though violent crime is rare in China as compared to many other countries, especially in major cities where security is tight, but it is witnessed that there has been a series of knife and axe attacks in recent years, many targeting children.
Authorities have often blamed people with mental illness or who have personal grievances are responsible for such attacks.
Knives are most commonly weapon used because gun controls are extremely strict in China.
