Chicago rapper Tavares Taylor, better known as Lil Reese, is hospitalized after being shot in the neck on Monday. A spokesperson for Advocate Christ Medical Center, where Lil Reese was transferred from Advocate South Suburban Hospital, has confirmed the rapper is in critical condition.
According to CCHPD, Lil Reese was shot about 40 minutes outside of Chicago on Monday afternoon. CBS Chicago has reported that the police were altered to a shooting at the intersection of 167th Street and Pulaski Road near 2:30 pm.
Witness reports state that Lil Reese was pursued by another car during a chase where witnesses claim to have heard 12 gunshots. The driver shot Lil Reese with a small rifle and fled the scene.
Police found a car on the scene with blood on the driver’s seat and the ground nearby. Police were informed that a man helped Taylor and took him to the nearby Hospital. He was stabilized and transferred to Advocate Christ Medical Center. He is reportedly in a critical condition.
As public concern for the rapper’s state grew, Lil Durk took to Twitter with a tweet saying simply, “Reese good”. Representatives for Lil Durk have since confirmed that the tweet was, indeed, in regards to Lil Reese being shot.
Reese is a high school dropout who broke out in the music scene after appearing on Chief Keef’s breakout 2012 single “I Don’t Like”. He went on to release his debut mixed tape later that year followed by a second mixtape “Supa Savage” in 2013. He has previously worked with fellow artists such as Freddie Gibbs, Juelz Santana, Rick Ross, Drake, Fredo Santana, and released a collaborate EP, Supa Vultures, with Lil Durk.
