In Chhattisgarh, at least three Maoists were killed in an encounter with security forces in Mirtur area of Bijapur district on Saturday.
Superintendent of police Mohit Garg told reporters that along with the bodies of the three Maoists, .303 rifle, live rounds, tiffin bomb, cordtex detonating cord, revolutionary literature and other materials were recovered from the encounter spot.
He further added that a police platoon had gone on patrol in Madpal village area on Thursday. “A group of Maoists fired at them on Saturday and in retaliatory firing, three were killed,” he noted.
Meanwhile, on Friday, the Chhattisgarh police destroyed two Maoist camps in Indravati National Park area in Bijapur.
Previously, security forces achieved a success in eliminating three Maoists in Sukma district of Bastar region. Following a specific input about the presence of Maoists, a team of District Force had launched an intensive search operation near Dantewada border. The encounter took place in the forest of Muler area.
The bodies of killed Maoists along with a large number of weapons including four rifles, one country-made pistol and a pipe bomb were recovered from the spot.
