In a shocking incident, a 21-year-old youth committed suicide in Chhattisgarh’s Korba district after his girlfriend was allegedly raped by two men, police said on Thursday. This information was revealed by the girl (17), allegedly raped, during the suicide investigation of Savan S.
The police said that they have arrested the two accused — Ishwar Das (22) and Khem Kanwar (21) — who allegedly raped the minor girl on Wednesday. A case of gang-rape and abetment of suicide have been registered against them, said police.
Briefing about the incident, police said, based on girl’s statement, that two men accosted them when she was with Sai near a school on the evening of September 1. The accused thrashed them and raped the girl before leaving them at the spot. The very next day, Sai came to know that other villagers have been informed about it by the accused and he committed suicide.
In a similar incident, a heinous crime took place when a 19-year-old college student was allegedly kidnapped and gang-raped by a group of men in a Haryana’s Mahendergarh district on Wednesday. The woman was then left unconscious at a bus stand in the district. It is to be known that she felicitated by the President after she topped the CBSE board exam. Police have registered a complaint and probing the matter.
