An aggressive gunfight broke out between the Security personnel and Maoists in Chhattisgarh’s Antagrarh village, when Maoists reportedly triggered at least seven explosions. The explosions come a day before the first phase of Assembly elections, scheduled to hold in Chhattisgarh.
According to reports, the encounter between security forces and Maoists took place in Kanker district, which is located around 175 km from the state capital Raipur.
A senior police officer said that a BSF team came under attack when they were patrolling the area. A BSF jawan was injured when an improvised explosive device or IED exploded during the encounter.
“Another encounter between security forces and Maoists broke out in Bijapur. The body of a Maoist has been recovered,” the police told NDTV. The police have arrested one Maoist.
