Deepika Padukone is back with a bang after a long hiatus. The Padmaavat star who won hearts in her royal avatar is seen as an acid attack survivor in the Meghna Gulzar film. The trailer of the much-awaited film is out and the actress once again steals the show as Malti an acid attack survivor. Actor Vikrant Massey will be seen as Amol, Malti’s partner in the film.

Chhapaak is all about the trauma and the triumph of Laxmi Agarwal portrayed by Deepika Padukone on the big screen. It focusses on the on-ground consequences of surviving an acid attack and all that transpires with the victim post the horrific attack. Meghna and Deepika have sensitively handled the subject and tried to bring to fore the trauma a victim undergoes post the attack and how we can extend our support towards the victims.
‘Chaapaak’ is based on the life and experiences of acid attack survivor Laxmi Agarwal, who is now a TV show host and a campaigner with Stop Acid Attacks.
The movie is close to Deepika’s heart as it marks her foray into production under her banner KA Entertainment.
Directed by Meghna Gulzar, Produced by Fox Star Studios, Deepika Padukone, Govind Singh Sandhu, and Meghna Gulzar, written by Atika Chohan and Meghna Gulzar, Chhapaak is set to hit theatres on 10th January 2020.
