Deepika Padukone‘s much awaited movie Chaapaak is scheduled to hit the theaters this Friday. However, we have already watched the film and bring you honest Chaapaak movie review here.
Chaapaak, which happens to be Deepika’s first production venture, begins with hundreds of protesters clashing with police and battled Rapid Action Force units, where we see Vikrant Massey, who runs an NGO aiming to help Acid attack survivors.
A few minutes later, we are introduced to Malti (Deepika Padukone), heading on the ground after her neighbor, Bashir Khan throws acid on her face, shattering her dream of becoming India’s top singer. The director of the film Meghna Gulzar should be appreciated the way she portrayed Malti on the silver screen.
Chaapaak is surely not a simple story to showcase on the screen but similar to previous movies, Meghna Gulzar articulates this with utmost maturity. The film will surely not disappoint you if you know a lot of thing about 2005 acid attack survivor and her inspiring story.
There are scenes in Chaapaak, which will leave you teary eyed and make you clap for Meghna Gulzar for showcasing this sensitive topic on the screen and the team who worked on the prosthetic that beautifully depicts the physical agony of Malti.
The film has shown everything from how Malti struggles to get job following the acid attack in 2005 to her victory in the Court.
Talking about its drawback, the film does not have any powerful dialogue like we have seen in Taapsee Pannu Amitabh Bachchan’s Pink. When Vikrant Massey (Amol) asks her to attend the hearing to see the man who violated her. To which Malti says, “There’s nothing about him worth seeing.” and “Usne Mera Chehra badla hai, mann nai” she said while speaking to media.
The first half of the film was too slow making it difficult to sit the audience while second half will make it a worthy watch. Deepika Padukone and Vikrant Massey dazzle with their chemistry in Chaapaak.
If we talk about Chaapaak box office collection, it would not be en easy to open with a bang as there are multiple movies hitting the theaters this Friday. Chaapaak is undoubtedly a must watch as it has delivered multiple messages.
Chaapaak is based on the life acid attack survivor, Laxmi Agarwal.
