In an untoward incident, a 56-year-old man — allegedly drunk — committed suicide after a quarrel with his wife in Maduravoyal in Tamil Nadu on Tuesday night. He hung self from a fan and ended his life.
Identified as A. Moses Raj, returned home around 11 pm at Ganga Nagar in Maduravoyal in an inebriated condition and picked up a quarrel with his wife Pushpa Mary, informed police. After a heated quarrel with his wife — Puspha Mary — they both exchanged verbal abuse.
Upset with the quarrel, Mohan entered the room and locked it from inside, but kept the windows open. He wanted his wife to witness him committing suicide. Suspecting that something is wrong, the wife went to the window and saw her husband committing suicide. Though she cried for help and neighbours rushed in too, but by the time help could reach, Mohan died, said the police.
As soon as the police came to know about the incident, they reached the spot, only to find the dead body of Mohan. Police have sent to Kilpauk government hospital for post-mortem. They have registered a case and are investigating it.
