Chelsea were trailing 1-2 to United when an injury-time goal by Ross Barkley sparked wide celebrations on the bench. Ianni then sprang from his seat and celebrated wildly in front of the United bench, provoking a reaction from Mourinho, who charged to confront the Chelsea assistant but was stopped by the security personnel and by the members of his own coaching staff.
Both Mourinho and Chelsea head coach Mauro Sarri later confirmed to the media that Ianni had apologised for his actions.
Mourinho was also “formally reminded of his responsibilities” following the incident.

Meanwhile, Chelsea are third on the English Premier League table behind Manchester City and Liverpool – both are on 26 points. The Blues have 24 points from matches and together with City and Liverpool are the only three sides to be still unbeaten in the domestic league. They have won seven of their 10 matches and drew the other three.
United on the other has been going towards opposite direction and despite their recent surge of form, the Red Devils are still struggling at the eight position behind the likes of Bournemouth and Watford. They have 17 points from 10 matches with five wins and two defeats.
