It was a contrasting outing for both Manchester clubs in the Champions League on Tuesday. While one needed a late winner to secure a win, the other was unable to find the back of the net which further added to the string of poor performances by the team.
Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City bounced back after a disappointing loss to Lyon in their opening game n Group F and once again they found themselves in trouble when Ishak Belfodil scored in the very first minute for Hoffenheim.
But Argentine forward Sergio Aguero put City back into the contest with an equaliser and it wasn’t the 87th minute that City secured the full points for themselves when Spanish midfielder David Silva struck at the Rhein-Neckar Arena.

At the Old Trafford, Mourinho’s Manchester United once again disappointed in front of a home crowd as their Group H clash against Valencia ended in a goalless draw.
The result piled more pressure on the Portuguese gaffer who had a poor start to the season as the Red Devils are on a four-match winless streak at the moment. This result thus gives the team the second place in the group with four points from two matches. The group is topped by Juventus who rode on Paulo Dybala’s magic to secure a 3-0 win over Swiss side Young Boys.
Valencia looked more deadly and likely to score after the break with Michy Batshuayi, whose close-range shot flew over the bar. Romelu Lukaku had his chances but some quality saves from Neto denied any damage whatsoever. In the 86th minute, young United forward looked to finally score for United with a free-kick and much to the woe of the home fans, it was one such shot which again hit the crossbar.
An under-performing United next go up against Juventus in their next Champions League fixture on October 23.
