Ola launched its highly anticipated Electric Scooter on August 15 for Indian customers and the stylish electric scooter was named S1 and S1 Pro. The bookings for the same began on July 15 and apparently the company received over one lakh reservations within span of first 24 hours of the registration opening in India. Now the CEO reveals that the company sold 600Cr worth Electric Scooters in a day, which in estimated counts is 60,000 scooters. Aggarwal also states that, “India is committing to EVs and rejecting petrol”.
On Thursday (September 16), Bhavish Aggarwal took to his Twitter handle and shared a cryptic post revealing the success of Ola’s Electric Scooter. He wrote, “India is committing to EVs and rejecting petrol! We sold 4 scooters/sec at peak & sold scooters worth 600Cr+ in a day! Today is the last day, the purchase will shut at midnight. So lock in this introductory price and buy on the Ola app before we sell out!”
In his separate blog post, Aggarwal revealed that lakhs of people booked to purchase of the Ola S1 and S1 Pro in last month ever since the registrations opened. Since the sales opened on September 15, the company managed to sell electric scooters worth Rs. 600 crore in a span of 24 hours, the estimated count of sold scooters is around 60,000 in a day. According to Bhavish Aggarwal, the sales are equivalent to what the entire 2W industry sells in the span of a day in India. He further went on to say that these numbers were beyond his expectations and the company is overwhelmed. September 16 is the last day of sales and purchases will close at midnight.
