Amid the ongoing row on Rafale deal verdict, centre requests Supreme Court to correct ‘factual error’ in Rafale verdict.
In its petition, the centre said that the Supreme Court misunderstood the procedure mentioned in the sealed cover that the government’s auditor CAG had examined the pricing of the jets and submitted its report.
The centre further stated that it only outlined the procedure in the sealed cover along with the pricing details.
The government also wants the Supreme Court to issue a clarification on this regard.
However, Congress party seems to have gone on war footing to not let the issue of Rafale die down any time soon. Mallikarjun Kharge- chairman of Public Accounts Committee (PAC), vowed to take it to another level. Kharge said that he would request all member of committee to summon Attorney General and CAG to seek answer on when was the auditor’s report tabled in the lower house of the Parliament.
He was quoted as saying by The Indian Express, “I will request the PAC members to call the Attorney General (AG) and the Comptroller and Auditor General to ask them when was the CAG report on the Rafale deal tabled in Parliament.”
Meanwhile, day after Congress president came down heavily on the Centre following the Supreme Court order on the Rafale deal, Union Minister Prakash Javadekar said that Congress was trying to sabotage the country’s security and preparedness by his conduct. Javadekar also lashed out on the Congress for demanding Joint Parliamentary committee meeting regarding the controversial Rafale issue.
Javadekar said, “This is nothing but sabotage of our security preparedness. We have already said that Rahul Gandhi owes an apology to the nation, to the defence forces and Lok Sabha also.”
